Why we're private... why the secrecy... why we couldn't say Ukraine... the burning questions!!! LOL
SO according to Ukrainian law you're not allowed to pre-select your child. We did. Obviously. Which is why we've been saying Eastern Europe for the last year. Of course it wasn't that hard for people to figure out if you REALLY wanted to, I know! ;)
Why we're private now: We want to be able to share our REAL adoption experience... the good, the bad & the ugly. We can't do that if we're public. If someone in the Ukrainian court system happened to be reading this and we were complaining about them... well... that just probably wouldn't go over too well! HA! NOT that I anticipate complaining! ;) The chances of them finding our blog? Slim, probably. But it's still a chance we can't afford to take. As soon as court is over we will go public again :)
Oh, and Kellsey's given name is Victoria... we may or may not be keeping this as one of her middle names... they call her "Vika" in the baby home. We want to see if her parents named her or if the baby home named her, and then we'll decide if we leave it as part of her name or not. We will start calling her Kellsey right away... from the advice of other families who have gone before us, this is the best way to get her used to her name. Their kids have had no problem adjusting :).
Oh, and yes, be sure you sign out of this blog before you leave comments on other blogs or you will leave comments as Kellsey! haha

I think you should keep that as part of her middle name. :) Oh, I think you should call her Vika ... so her and Nika can be rhyming buddies! LOL
I've meant to mention to you for a while that I like Kellsey Jade, not that you asked LOL... I don't care what you call her so long as her last name's Garcia!!
Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us. Certainly brightens things up around here, the A-Team seems to have H1N1 and it is not fun.
Safe travels!! Many prayers flying with you.

Our boys seem to like the fact that they have at least parts of their given names--it's part of their history, the very little bit that they got to keep when they left Guatemala. You might think about even having two middle names so you could keep part of Kellsey's bio name, regardless of who named her. I'm just saying that because I have seen various parents posting on a Guatemala adoption listserve who have older adopted children that have expressed some regret that they didn't get to keep their birth names. Not all kids feel that way, I'm sure.
I'm so excited for you! Praying for safe travels and a terrific outcome.

When I was signed in earlier as "Kellsey" I almost left a comment on another blog...thank goodness I noticed it said Kellsey before I confirmed it, that would have been odd to explain ;) Have a great time while you are there and you know how to reach me if you need ANYTHING!
So glad to be here and can't wait to follow your journey! Thanks for including us!!

Just me, but I probably would not go public again until after she is home with you. Why chance it? It has been a long journey. I might be wrong though.
Thank you again for including me.

I like what Bobbie Carol suggested but I would like to say add a hyphen to it. Kellsey Victoria-Jean (or whatever you choose for the J part of her name)? Or maybe spell it how it is spelled on her original birth certificate. That way she has a piece of her past with her and carries it to her future.
Again thank you for including me

I have to tell you, I haven't been to this blog in a while. I just watched the Today show clip and bawled my eyes out. It bothers me anyway but having Jax has brought it to a whole new level. I was a little surprised at my emotions.
Then I scanned down and saw the video of Kennedy giving away the ipod. How can people not understand that these are children, and their no different than any other child. It makes me crazy, I want to rescue them all.
I am SO SO SO SO SO excited to be watching all of this from the sidelines! We are just starting the adoption journey, so it's been thrilling to walk alongside you as you've journeyed to bring Kellsey home.
Safe travel & prayers!!!

I'm actually glad that it's the Ukraine! The church we used to go to (Crossroads PCA, Middletown DE) has a connection with Ukraine orphans already, so I heard so much about it, and many of the members have gone on mission trips there. The pastor and his wife have adopted two boys with special needs (Nicholas had a cleft palate and Roman had a cleft palate, hearing problems, and no arms, just hands growing out of his shoulders). They were from two different orphanages, both adopted via Bethany Childrens Services. When you get back I'll send you a link to Karen Weaver's testimony about their journey. There were actually two different adoptions a year apart, and both over Christmas, which meant being away from their four daughters. Anyway, may God's providence keep your hearts and minds fixed on him and his love during your entire journey.

Have a safe trip!! We're praying for you guys!!
Thank you so much for inviting me to your blog! I hope you will have a safe journey and a smooth process while in Ukraine!
And by the way, I do think you should keep Viktoria as her middle name. It's a part of her history.

Thanks for adding me! I think you should keep the Victoria. It is a good link to where she came from and what you all had to do to get her. :) I am so excited for you to finally see her I can hardly stand it. Praying for you all.
